International Summer University (ISU)

Welcome to the 9th International Summer University (ISU)

Intellectual Property & Biotechnology -Linking Business, Law and Science

20 July – 17 August 2013

Since its first edition in 2005, the International Summer University (ISU) has gained increasing global recognition. In 2013, the faculties of Law, Economics and Business, Agricultural Sciences and Medicine of the Justus Liebig Univeristy Giessen are looking forward to host students from all over the world!

Our courses, all of them taught in English, are designed to inspire participants in highly popular fields such as intellectual property and biotechnology. The interdisciplinary program is designed for postgraduates, undergraduates with some basic knowledge in the area of biotechnology, and young professionals, who want to learn about Europe's way of dealing with the challenges of a new and developing industry such as biotechnology, and who want to gain some first-hand experience with German and European culture. All seminars are taught by internationally renowned academics and practitioners. Furthermore, students will attend German language courses of different levels in accordance with their knowledge.

The program combines high-quality teaching with a wide range of cultural and social activities. In addition to the academic courses, we offer various field trips: two on-site visits at international biotechnology companies and a three-day trip to Munich will add more practical elements to the content learned in class. We will show students some of the most beautiful places in Germany. Above all, through studying abroad participants will broaden their horizon. Students will learn more about foreign cultures, they can interact with each other and share their different experiences and – most important – they will spend a great time in an international environment.

We look forward to welcoming you to Giessen for the 9th International Summer University in Intellectual Property and Biotechnology 2013!
